First look inside Mengi Yay's 53m flagship Virtus XP superyacht

Italian design studio VYD Studio has unveiled new interior images of Gray Wolf, the first yacht in the Virtus XP series from Turkish shipyard Mengi Yay, following her world debut at the Monaco Yacht Show 2026.

The 52.6-metre yacht was delivered in April and is the largest yacht built to date by the builder, with naval architecture by Van Oossanen Naval Architects . Constructed in steel and aluminium, she has been described as a capable, "go anywhere" vessel designed for long-range cruising and offshore use.

Her striking profile comprises clearly defined decks, with expansive dark glazing running along the main deck and wrapping around her superstructure.

Speaking exclusively to BOAT International, Paolo Dose, founder of VYD Studio, said: "Virtus XP represents the perfect combination of elegance and power. It began as a raw explorer concept, with impressive interior and exterior volumes and an additional deck.

"We then blended the strength and capability of an explorer with the distinctive DNA of the Virtus family, adding a higher level of luxury, comfort and refinement," he continued. "Developing the project over time allowed us to add new layers of design, detail and thought. Like a perfectly blended wine, every element matured together, giving the yacht greater depth, balance and character.”

New images reveal a neutral yet bright colour palette, accented with marble, wood, brushed metal, mirrored detailing and Italian leather throughout the guest spaces to create an airy and contemporary feel

A spiral staircase forms the centrepiece of the main saloon. Dose said it was initially planned for the main deck lobby, but was brought forward during the build to create a focal point in the room. Behind it, embossed detailing runs the full height of the decks, while mirrored panels enhance the sense of space.

The interior combines soft furnishings and warm leather with a more formal dining area accommodating up to 10 guests.

In terms of accommodation, Gray Wolf has space for up to 10 guests across a five cabin layout, including an open-plan master cabin positioned on the main deck with a private terrace, adorned with relaxed wicker furniture for guests to take in the views.

A significant emphasis has been placed on exterior living. When first stepping on board, guests are greeted by a commodious and versatile beach club, which can be expanded with the addition of two folding side platforms.

Minimal but comfortable furniture adorns the space, including a two-seater sofa and two single-person sofas, accompanied by a shaded, glass-walled pool. When not in use by guests, the beach club can be used to store a tender.

The main deck aft houses seating for up to eight people centred around a low coffee table, carefully shaded to protect guests from the elements.

A similar setup can be found on the upper deck aft with its al fresco dining and lounging space, while a relaxed configuration and a TV in the upper saloon offers a cosy retreat.

The foredeck has been arranged as a private outdoor lounge, with a sofa and sun lounger offering space to relax at the bow.

Meanwhile, guests looking to focus on health and wellness can head up to the sundeck, where an array of gym equipment is accompanied by a selection of sun loungers. Further forward sits a sofa, two chairs and fabric stools surrounding a glass-topped coffee table.

Crowning the very top of the yacht is a prime spot for sun lovers, where two sun loungers are available on the sundeck roof.

Gray Wolf can reach a maximum speed of 15 knots and cruises at 12 knots, powered by two Caterpillar C-32 diesel engines. Long-range cruising is possible thanks to more than 65,000 litres of fuel capacity, alongside 15,000 litres of freshwater and 11,500 litres of black and grey water capacity.

According to BOATPro, Mengi Yay has four yachts currently actively under construction. This includes the first unit in its NL50 Plus series, designed by the team at Nuvolari Lenard.

In July, the yard launched the second yacht from the Virtus XP series, a 52.6-metre yacht christened Amphib II.
