Tankoa Yachts has confirmed it is in the final stages of due diligence as it moves to acquire the historic Cantieri di Pisa shipyard.
The full acquisition of the 76-year-old shipyard from current owners Sea-Finance would allow Tankoa to expand in Genoa while taking advantage of Cantieri di Pisa’s 30-45 metre range of products.
Speaking about the takeover, Tankoa chief executive Vincenzo Poerio said: “We trust that the technical and administrative procedures will have a positive outcome over the next few weeks so that we can begin work to gradually reintegrate resources and become operational.
“We would also like to thank mayor Michele Conti and engineer Salvatore Pisano for their support and assistance in establishing our industrial plan,” he added.
