Wednesday 26 October saw the keel-laying ceremony of the first in a new series of 40 metre motor yachts at Italy’s Tecnomar yard.

Designed by Luca Dini with the Shipyard Style Centre, the Impero 40 is a semi-displacement yacht, which will be built in aluminum, and this first vessel is scheduled to be delivered to her owner in 2013.

The Impero series of yachts combine space, comfort, natural light and safety with state-of-art design, performance and new technologies for environmental protection.

Powered by twin 1920hp MTU engines, the Impero 40 is expected to reach a maximum speed of 19 knots and a cruising speed of 17 knots.
