During its press conference at the Cannes yacht show this week, the Ferretti Group gave an update on the first 37m Riva superyacht that is currently in build, the Mythos. An evolution of Riva's 86 Domino, the 37m Mythos will be the largest planing yacht ever built by the Italian yard.

Hull No. 1 of the new aluminium-built series yacht has been sold, and Ferretti confirmed build is well underway with delivery scheduled for May 2014. The client for the first hull has selected the three-stateroom layout option, which is one of several arrangements available, and they also opted for a flybridge design with a Jacuzzi.

Apart from its record size, the triple-deck Mythos will also be the first aluminium boat from the 170-year-old Riva yard, which established its reputation with classic wooden sports boats, later moving on to stylish sports cruisers and motor yachts. The 37m Mythos is considered the first of a new aluminium series for Riva to be annouced soon.

Mythos gets her styling from Mauro Micheli of Officina Italiana Design, who designed the current range of Rivas, working closely with Ferretti’s Advanced Yacht Design team. The Ancona-based yard CRN, which is also part of the Feretti Group and built Riva’s large yachts in the 1950s and 1960s, will construct the 37m boat.
