A new 17.5-metre outboard wallypower58X model has made its world debut at the Palm Beach International Boat Show.
The newest member of the Wally fleet, which was revealed last week, shares the same design details as the wallypower58 but is instead fitted with four Mercury Verardo V12 600 outboard engines delivering 2,400hp and a top speed of 50 knots at half load.
This power setup has the added benefit of a reduced draft making the boat suitable for shallower water operations.
She features a "stealth-like deckhouse" and "long planar surfaces" borrowed from the wallypower118 and pairs these with fold-down aft bulwarks and a four-person sunpad with a pop-up bimini that transforms the space into a 25-square-metre open-air beach club.
“In common with the very first wallypower, the new wallypower58X has a hull form dominated by double chines and a bow which meets the water with a smooth, swooping line that extends all the way aft,” said Luca Bassani, Wally founder and chief designer.
A hydraulic passerelle concertinas out from the deck between the four engines and doubles as both a boarding platform and bathing ladder.
The glass-covered cockpit can host up to 12-16 guests across the two flanking benches and on the forward-facing portion of the sunpad. To starboard, a large table opens to create a seated dining area while still allowing unobstructed passage from the cabin area on the port side.
The model is offered in a one-cabin configuration with a forward double berth and a larger saloon, or in a two-cabin configuration for owners looking to have friends or family stay on board. Other features include a "magic porthole" which uses cameras to create the illusion of a window in the saloon.
“Wally stands for avant-garde, so it should come as no surprise that we have found a way to unite the very latest in outboard performance with the essential access to the water that the wallypower line provides," said Stefano de Vivo, managing director of Wally.
"Exhilarating speed from 2,400hp of motors, peerless handling and a true spirit of enjoying what nature has to offer – these are all hallmarks of Wally yachts," he added.
Ferretti Group also took the opportunity of the Palm Beach International Boat show to announce the sale of the first wallywhy100 to an American owner.
