X Shore unveils 6.5m X Shore 1 electric tender

Swedish electric boat manufacturer X Shore has unveiled a 6.5 metre day boat called X Shore 1.

Revealed in a live-streamed event from Stockholm, X Shore’s CEO Jenny Keisu announced the launch of the new model and shared more about the boat’s key features of sustainability, silence and an “accessible” price point.

The X Shore 1 is the smaller sibling of the yard's existing electric tender, the eight-metre Eelex 8000.

The new model has a top speed of 30 knots, cruising speed of 20 knots and a range of 50 nautical miles at lower speeds. Unlike previous models, the X Shore 1 is equipped with a single 63kWh capacity battery instead of two, which offers a fast charging time of around 50 minutes (up to 45kW).

Highlights include an open transom with a built-in swim platform, a dedicated full-beam area for sunbathing and retractable sun awnings.

The X Shore 1 will be available in two configurations: Top and Open. It will also offer three different specifications: Utility, Performance and Premium.

The construction process also integrates X Shore’s eco-focused ethos, with production methods using “significantly less material” and employing sustainable alternatives used where possible, including cork instead of teak on the decks.

The X Shore 1 will be priced from €99,000 excluding VAT. Speaking about the price point, Keisu, said: “In order to bring electric boating to the largest possible audience, it is essential we bring to market a range of models and options to satisfy the different needs and desires of the global boating community.

“Crucially, the X Shore 1 enters the market at a remarkably low price point, as we must make electric boating competitive with fossil-fuel boats to speed up the transition.”

She added that she hoped the new model would “encourage a new generation of boat owners, and show them that electric boating is not just the future, but the present.”

The X Shore 1 will be built at X Shore Industries 1 in Nyköping, Sweden. First orders will be delivered to customers in the second quarter of 2023.

“We are proud of our Swedish heritage, and the X Shore 1 pays homage to this through an innovative product that is designed with functionality and durability in every step, from production to use and lifetime,” added Keisu.
