Sea Spa: Soothing Treatments and Sporty Yachts at Ibiza's 7Pines
by Simon Ward
If you're looking for the best spa resort in the Balearics, check out Ibiza's new luxury resort 7Pines. Simon Ward reviews the resort's Pure Seven Spa and the yachts now available to charter for guests.
Where is the 7Pines resort?
Situated atop a jagged peninsula on Ibiza’s west coast, 7Pines opened its doors in 2018 to much fanfare and promises of relaxation and repair in super-luxe surroundings. Its 186 suites are scattered across 2.2 hectares of palatial, pine-scented clifftop and it’s the island’s only hotel with 270-degree views of the Med and the mystical island of Es Vedrà which, legend has it, is home to sea sirens and nymphs. These idyllic surroundings make it easy to forget you’re less than 10km from the bangin’, beer-soaked debauchery of the Sant Antoni de Portmany.
Why visit the 7Pines resort?
New to 7Pines in 2019 is the Pershing Yacht Terrace, the result of an exclusive partnership between the resort and the luxury boatbuilder. It’s the perfect spot to indulge in a clifftop cocktail prepared by the bar’s resident molecular mixologist. Sip away while pondering which of the three Pershing yachts to charter during your stay – there are three in residence: a sporty 16.51m 5X, a 22.66m Pershing 74 and a 28.5m Pershing 9X. The latter has a range of 380 nautical miles, but all three are more than capable of whisking you beyond the Balearics for a day or so. 7Pines recently announced a Sardinia resort is currently under development, so why not plan a hop there?
What spa treatments to have at the 7Pines resort?
Tucked beyond the resort’s 54-metre pool is the Pure Seven Spa, which offers a plentitude of pampering options with a focus on wellness and nature-inspired products. Set around a cavernous circular room overlooking the sea, it utilises Ayurvedic, Oriental and Mayan influences and makes good use of Ibizan salt and local herbs for its treatments. The Pure Seven Relax Tour is a “wellness experience” incorporating sauna, steam bath, cold mist and a massage treatment. Need a little more attention? A range of three-hour wellbeing rituals encompass meditation, shiatsu, cranio, Thai massage, trigger point and reflexology using Neom Intensive Treatment Candle Oil. Still not enough? Book the spa’s six-day Pure Wellness Detox Program for a retreat-style overhaul of mind, body and soul for €2,350.
What to eat and drink at the 7Pines resort?
While away the hours at one of Ibiza’s most impressive infinity pools, with its full-width glass end that’s catnip to Instagrammers. Attentive uniformed staff will keep you occupied with cocktails, mocktails, nasi goreng, caesar salad, sushi and more while you’re listening to a chilled-out playlist on the water loungers. In the evening, head to the View and the Cone Club for superior Med cuisine with Spanish and Asian influences. (Make sure you grab a table on the roof terrace to immerse yourself in the west coast’s legendary sunsets.) We recommend the oxtail cannelloni gratinated with Balearic cheese and Pedro Ximenez reduction.
How to visit 7Pines resort by yacht?
With 245 berths for boats up to 50 metres, Sant Antoni de Portmany is just a short hop away. Ibiza Town, meanwhile, can accommodate yachts of all sizes – the 105-metre Lady Moura was in residence when BOAT International paid a visit. Or if you’ve left your superyacht at home, Ibiza Airport is less than an hour’s drive from 7Pines, where the siren call of the resident Pershings will be awaiting your arrival…
