Raymond Gibbs

Head of Business Development, University of Manchester’s Graphene City

Ray is one of the UK’s most knowledgeable experts on graphene. For the past 10 years he has been immersed in the Advanced Materials (nanotechnology) world, having listed Haydale Graphene Industries Plc in 2014, and commercialized Graphene as a material in its own right. A renowned international speaker at Graphene and Smart Materials conferences, Ray is Chairman of the Joint Working Group on implementation of Graphene standardisation between the UK and China, in conjunction with the UK British Standards Institute and the Standards Administration of China. He also recently became NED Chairman of CVD systems supplier of 2D Graphene and other Advanced Materials, planarTECH LLC, and continues to work with Manchester University to commercialise their graphene focussed operations, including the Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre (GEIC). The work is aimed at developing an ecosystem and business structure to support the vision of “Graphene City” in Manchester, the home of Graphene.
