Qatar Airways

Even if you’ve invested in your own private jet, long haul destinations can sometimes mean flying commercial is unavoidable. However, with the quality of first class seats growing ever more luxurious this can still be an enjoyable experience. Click through for our guide to the best first class seats around...

One of the younger airlines in this line-up, Qatar Airways has scooped a number of accolades in its 25 years and has been crowned the world’s best airline for 2019 by Skytrax – its fifth time winning the award.

On arrival you'll be treated to a glass of vintage Champagne, Krug or Bollinger Rosé, and if you’re feeling peckish there’s no need to wait as meals are served on demand. Dishes like Oscietra caviar with balik salmon, fillet of veal, and dark chocolate tart can be found on the menu.

Each seat has a Brics amenity kit with a range of Castello Monte Vibiano Vechhio skin care products to keep you feeling refreshed, including a hydrating facial mist, anti-ageing moisturiser and a night recovery cream. Meanwhile, those travelling on select A380 flights can slip into a White Company pyjama set made from 100% cotton with faux fur-lined slippers to match.

It’s worth mentioning Qatar’s award-winning business class cabin too. In 2017 they began to roll out the QSuite, offering first class service in a business class seat. The suite has sliding doors for privacy, with “couple” seats that transform into a double bed. For bigger groups, the middle section suites can even be converted into a quad room, perfect for families or business meetings at 40,000ft.

A first class seat from London to Doha with Qatar Airways starts from £4,000.
