Fine watchmaker Tudor has unveiled a new Black Bay ‘Black’ diving watch as part of its popular Heritage range and it promises to be one of the best new adventure watches for your explorer yacht.

Originally launched in 2010 with the Heritage Chrono, the Heritage range seeks to simultaneously update and honour some of the finest timepieces in Tudor’s extensive archive. The new Heritage Black Bay ‘Black’ diving watch is inspired by the lines and aesthetic of the original 1954 Tudor Submariner and celebrates over 60 years of fine diving timepieces from the brand.

Available with burgundy, blue or black unidirectional bezels with a black dial and luminous pink gold or silver hands and appointments, many of the watch’s finer design features are drawn straight from classic Submariner models. The winding crown, for example, is derived from the 1958 version which collectors nicknamed ‘Big Crown’ and the ‘snowflake’ hands were a standard feature of the Submariner from 1969 until the early 1980s.

The heritage model is brought into the modern era via a hard-wearing 41mm steel case, interchangeable leather and fabric or steel bracelets and an anodized aluminium crown tube. The ‘Black’ is the third Black Bay diving watch to be introduced to the Heritage range, following on from the 2012’s vintage-style model and the sleek, sharp second edition ‘Midnight Blue’.

The watch is brought up to date with interchangeable bracelets

The Black Bay ‘Black’ is powered by a Tudor calibre 2824 self-winding mechanical movement and offers a power reserve of 38 hours. Of course, as any good diving watch should, the new Heritage model also offers waterproof capabilities to 200 metres.

The Tudor Heritage Black Bay ‘Black’ diving watch is available now from £2,120. Visit tudorwatch.com.
