Heesen’s 55-metre steel class has proven another winner with three yachts launched to date and more in build. The technical platform and naval architecture remain the same, but what might not be immediately apparent is how we       have continually developed and improved the general arrangement to satisfy the evolving desires and requests of owners. Azamanta, Laurentia, and Vida are three of many great examples of how owners have been able to build completely different yachts using an identical platform. Three different dreams, three unique yachts, but built using the same proven platform.

Azamanta, the first in this class, had a forward tender garage with gullwing doors and a transom door that folded down to create a swim platform. On Laurentia, however, the tenders are stored on the foredeck and the crane is integrated into the navigation mast. This proved more efficient from an operation standpoint and the solution has been retained in all subsequent sister ships.

The foredeck was slightly lowered, and the former garage space now serves as a generous storage space, while the fold-down transom door was replaced with a fixed beach platform in the stern.

The next development you will see in this class was generated when clients requested a larger sky lounge on the bridge deck. Whereas the original design had a walk-round upper deck, the latest arrangement now has a full beam saloon that appreciably increases the volume of the sky lounge.

Our in-house engineering team didn’t stop there: there are now four larger cabins on the lower deck instead of the original five-cabin layout, while thanks to the new wide-body layout a VIP suite has been introduced on the upper deck.

Laurentia is a beautiful example of how we have worked closely with the client and his designer (Ramon Alonso from Radyca) to create a true home away from home that reflects the owner’s lifestyle.

The next yacht available in this class is Project Pollux, with a luxurious interior by Bannenberg & Rowell Design.
