Boat International Media is proud to be supporting The MYBA Selection, running concurrently with the Monaco Yacht Show in late September 2009. As for the rationale of the show, Neil Cheston, current President of MYBA, explains, "The MYBA Selection is the brokers' response to the stranglehold in which they have found themselves in the past three or four years."
Since its inception in the early nineties, the Monaco Yacht Show has gone from being a relatively low-key gathering of yachts for sale, to its present exalted status as the world's premier luxury goods showcase. As Neil says, "Last year, there were over a hundred yachts anchored outside Monaco, unable to get in but still hoping for a glimpse of the action, like a gang of urchins peering in through the windows of a swanky restaurant. So we have simply moved all the 'waiting list' yachts to a better anchorage five miles west, at the Rade de St Hospice."
Prospective buyers will be collected by tender or limousine and shuttled to the new location where they can view the yachts in comfort and privacy. Early indications are that this will be a great event, with up to 50 sensational large yachts on display, including the likes of Kokomo, Shandor, Blind Date, Latinou and Phocea. We'll be keeping you up to date with developments as more yachts confirm their attendance.
