Nominations open for the Richard Earp Award for ethical brokerage behaviour

9 April 2018 • Written by Malcolm Maclean

Nominations are now open for the second annual Richard Earp Award recognising ethical behaviour within the yacht brokerage industry. Inaugurated in 2017 by Fraser following the death of its broker Richard Earp, this year's award is being organised by the LYBRA and MYBA organisations and will be presented on May 2, 2018 during the Superyacht Show in Barcelona.

Founded as a tribute to Earp's unfailingly gentlemanly conduct and integrity in dealing with clients, nominees will be judged on transparency, fair and ethical behaviour, charisma and style. In addition, nominees should be well respected in the industry, have longevity and still be active in the market. In 2017 Alex Lees-Buckley of Camper & Nicholsons International became the recipient of the first Richard Earp award.

The judges providing the expertise behind the choice are Eric Blair (Secretary General of LYBRA), Fiona Maureso (former president of MYBA) and several other senior figures in the industry who knew Earp well.

“Richard’s colleagues and friends in the industry wanted to find a way to honour his memory and ensure that his attributes and qualities are recognised, encouraged and promoted throughout the industry," said Maureso. "As well as being one of the fairest yacht brokers to work with he also had a great sense of humour and charisma that was appreciated by everyone he met. The first award was justifiably presented to Alex Lees-Buckley who is a very well-respected and admired broker, and we are now looking for the next worthy recipient.”

Nominations must be submitted by April 13, 2018. To submit your nomination email info@myba.net with the name of the nominated broker, a short paragraph describing the reasons for their nomination and a brief bio, plus any other supporting evidence.
