Ocean Independence sells Mangusta superyacht Sharq

26 February 2014 • Written by Malcolm MacLean

Toby Maclaurin at Ocean Independence tells me that he's closed on the sale of the 49.9m motor yacht Sharq.

Unusually, she was sold by sealed bid and all bids had to be in by 28 November 2013.

A Mangusta 165, Sharq is a GRP-hulled motor yacht built by Overmarine and launched in 2011, with naval architecture and interior design handled in-house, and exterior styling by Stefano Righini. She accommodates 10 to 12 guests in six cabins - all with en suite facilities - and has a crew of nine in five cabins. Capable of 40 knots, thanks to her triple MTU 16V 4000 M93L engines on KaMeWa water-jet drives, she has a range of 600nm at a cruising speed of 33 knots.
