35m Fast Cruising sailing yacht Sojana sold

1 July 2022

The 35 metre Fast Cruising sailing yacht Sojana has been sold in-house by Carrswood Yachts.

Built in carbon fibre by British yards Green Marine and Fast Cruising to a design by pedigree racing yacht studio Farr Yacht Design, she was delivered in 2003 as a custom high-performance ketch. The brief was to build the longest and fastest yacht capable of being handled by the owner and friends with minimal crew.

Sojana was asking €4,950,000

In cruising mode, she runs with a core crew of five but can easily accommodate a full race crew as required. Her main mast stands 41.8-metres-tall, with a smaller 33.9-metre mizzen mast aft, and she flies over 1,000 square metres of sail downwind. In racing mode, she can reach in excess of 15-20 knots in 10-15 knots of breeze.

Sojana, under the ownership of the late Sir Peter Harrison, built an impressive résumé of sailing victories and was pronounced overall winner of the Antigua Megayacht Challenge in 2005 during the Rolex Transatlantic Challenge. She also holds the Round Antigua record for a monohull after a sterling effort during the Antigua Sailing Week in 2017. In 2018 she was crowned the St Barths Bucket overall winner in her class.

Sojana completed a full cosmetic and technical refit in 2015 including fixtures & fittings, interior furnishings, mechanical equipment, rigging and sails.

Her interior, by Ken Freivokh, reflects an age of traditional yachting opulence with dark mahogany wood panelling and gold-plated fittings. Accommodation is for up to eight guests in three cabins consisting of two doubles and a twin with Pullman berths and all with en suite shower facilities.

A main saloon boasts in-built seating and comfortable sofas around a bespoke chess board and table. Stairs lead up onto her aft deck which has been left bare in order to enhance on-the-water performance.

When under power, the yacht is driven by a single Lugger diesel engine with a top speed of 11.5 knots and a cruising speed of 10 knots.

Sojana was asking €4,450,000. Carrswood Yachts offers its thanks to Captain Simon Tibbot and his crew for assisting the sale.
