42m Sterling explorer yacht Maverick sold

2 October 2026 • Written by Malcolm Maclean and Lucy Pughe-Morgan

The 42-metre Sterling Shipyards explorer yacht Maverick has been sold. Joaquin Genrich of Fraser represented both the buyer and the seller in the deal, with Jeffrey Palmer of United Yacht Sales also representing the seller.

Maverick was constructed in fibreglass and launched by the American shipyard in 1988. Since then, she has undergone three refits in 2010, 2013 and most recently in 2025.

Maverick was last asking $2,450,000

Maverick's main saloon thoughtfully blends lounging and dining space for a seamless flow between informal and formal entertaining. The flexible main room features an open-plan layout which incorporates a bar to enhance the hosting capabilities.

Four cabins can accommodate up to eight guests on board, including a full-beam owner’s suite located forward on the main deck. The spacious main cabin boasts an extensive seating area and provides complete privacy for the owner. Three additional cabins offer guests comfort while cruising, and all cabins have entertainment systems and en suites.

The yacht also benefits from a private owner's office characterised by an emerald green and beige colour palette, offering a quiet escape for those on board.

Moving out to the aft deck, an al fresco dining space is provided under the shade of an awning for all-weather use, encouraging long lunches or evening meals out with the sea breeze.

Up on the bridge deck is a second lounge, as well as another al fresco dining space on the aft deck. This features seating for a large party on a banquette and deck chairs, providing an excellent addition to the hosting areas on the 42-metre.

The yacht boasts a large swim platform that can launch the yacht’s array of water toys, which includes a Nautica 19 RIB with a 200hp Yamaha outboard, two Sunfish sailing dinghies, three kayaks and numerous sets of scuba diving gear.

Her twin 890hp MTU diesel engines give her a cruising range of 3,500 nautical miles, reaching a maximum speed of 13.4 knots and a cruising speed of 10 knots.

Maverick was last asking $2,450,000.
