Turkish studio BAZ Yacht Design has unveiled the MOBU 33, the first concept model in the designers' new family of performance yachts.
Developed around the idea that socialising should shape the yacht's architecture, not just occupy the interior spaces, the 33-metre vessel is characterised by a 3.8-metre-high aft atrium, which extends from the cockpit into the main salon and connects the interior and exterior living spaces.
Organised around the atrium is the main deck, which the designers envisioned as an "interconnected social landscape". Layered, half-level transitions connect the main deck and the interior accommodation, creating an open and intuitive layout.
"We wanted the social experience to define the yacht from the inside out," explained Bilge Zaptçıoğlu Atal and Barbaros Atal, co-founders of BAZ Yacht Design. "The aft atrium is not simply a dramatic feature; it organises how people gather, move between levels and remain connected to the sea. This gave us the opportunity to create a performance yacht with a strong architectural identity and a very natural way of living on board."
The designers' social philosophy continues inside; the main living areas serve as an extension of the exterior spaces, demonstrated by long sightlines throughout the interior and easy access to the surrounding terraces. Accommodation on board houses up to eight guests across four cabins, comprising one master, one VIP and two guest cabins. Further quarters sleep a four-strong crew.
The MOBU 33 will be powered by two D13 1000hp engines, set to provide a maximum speed of 32 knots and a cruising speed of 27 knots, subject to sea trials. Other key specs include a beam of 7.5 metres and a draught of 1.4 metres.
Last year, the design studio unveiled a concept for a 54-metre yacht offering two distinct configurations. The first is tailored for co-chartering, families or multiple guests, while the second includes features which provide "unmatched privacy".
