Turkish shipyard Bering Yachts has announced the launch of the first unit from its 23.9-metre Bering 78 explorer yacht model, now christened Slow Ride.
The new build hit the water at the shipyard's facilities in Antalya, unveiling her unusual teal-coloured profile, reverse-raked bow (a rare design choice at this size, according to the yard) and bright orange boot stripe. Slow Ride will now undergo sea trials ahead of her delivery this spring.
Constructed with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, the model has been specifically designed by the shipyard as a "shallow-draught explorer", developing on the successful Bering 72 and Bering 77 models with a bigger LOA and a low draught of only 1.5 metres.
Inside, the Bering 78 offers a generous volume of 109GT across three decks with accommodation for up to six guests and two crew. The interior is characterised by warm teak accents, oak furnishings and contemporary styling across a flexible layout.
According to the yard, the model benefits from expanded cabins across a 6.5-metre beam, handy service areas and living spaces that "feel far larger than the yacht’s compact 24-metre length suggests". Slow Ride features a full-beam master suite amidships on the lower deck and has been designed for easy owner operation without the need for crew.
“The Bering 78 proves that you don’t need a very large yacht to enjoy real explorer capability, serious range, and genuine comfort," said Bering Yachts founder and CEO, Alexei Mikhailov. "She is built to take owners anywhere — from shallow bays to open ocean — with confidence and style."
Power is from twin 335hp Cummins engines providing a top speed of 10 knots and a range exceeding 3,000 nautical miles at an eight-knot cruising speed. A fuel-efficient displacement hull also ensures long-distance autonomy.
The launch comes at a busy time for Bering Yachts, which began construction on its first 33-metre Bering 110 explorer yacht model in November. BOATPro amounts a total of six 24-metre plus yachts currently under construction or on order at the yard.
