Busy times at Heesen Yachts

29 May 2011 • Written by Raphael Montigneaux

It has been a busy year so far for Heesen Yachts, with one delivery, two yachts currently undergoing sea trials and the release of a new iPad app.

The delivery was that of Satori, the first hull of the Heesen 50m series (we reported her launch in February). Her official christening took place yesterday during the Monaco Grand Prix, when she was also given "La Belle Classe" certification by the Yacht Club de Monaco.

Satori is a 49.80m semi-displacement motor yacht built in aluminium. Omega Architects was responsible of the exterior design, while Rémi Tessier created her elegant interior. Her naval architecture by Van Oossanen Associates and Heesen makes her extremely efficient - her twin 2,720kW MTU engines give her a top speed of 24 knots and a range of 3,200 nautical miles at 12 knots.

As mentioned above, Heesen has two other yachts undergoing sea trials - the 55m Quinta Essentia (we reported her launch in March) and the 47m Ariadna. They are both scheduled for delivery in the near future.

Finally, Heesen has become the first shipyard to launch a dedicated iPad app, allowing you to view pictures, videos and specs across their full range of yachts.
