Borrow A Boat, a new charter platform dubbed the “Airbnb for boats”, has teamed up with central agency Ocean Independence to launch its top end sub-brand Borrow A Boat Plus.
The digital platform launched the partnership at Matrix Island in London’s St Katharine’s Docks on June 5. It claims the partnership is the “first of its kind in the market”.
The move means that Ocean Independence’s 100-strong fleet of luxury superyachts will now be available for charter through Borrow A Boat Plus around the world.
They join the company’s existing portfolio of over 17,000 boats ranging from small end sailing and motor boats to the world’s most premium superyachts.
The company came about after chief executive Matt Ovenden wanted to make yachting more flexible and accessible. He said the partnership with Ocean Independence would allow Borrow A Boat to become “the most inclusive and accessible boating platform worldwide.”
He added: “Relying on the experience and wealth of knowledge of Ocean Independence in this market, our customers can now have their ultimate dream vacation on the water, at both ends of the spectrum and all points of the compass.”
Head of sales and marketing at Ocean Independence Toby Maclaurin added: “In partnering with Borrow A Boat, and the creation of Borrow A Boat Plus, we see an innovative approach to the question of evolution within the charter market, towards an end goal.”
