Benetti begins construction on 67m superyacht FB285

Italian yard Benetti has marked the construction milestone of its 67 metre custom yacht FB285 with a traditional coin ceremony.

The ceremony, which marks the start of construction, took place at Carpensalda’s shipyard in Pisa where the superyacht’s steel hull was started. The outfitting of the yacht will take place at Benetti’s Livorno shipyard ahead of the yacht’s launch at the end of 2022.

Built from a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, FB285 will feature exterior design penned by Giorgio M Cassetta while the custom interiors are styled by AskDeco in collaboration with Benetti’s in-house interior design department.

Designed for long periods on board, FB285 is based on an evolved platform used for the basis of 67 metre Project Rinascimento. Project Rinascimento itself is described as an “evolution” of the platform used to build the WSA-winning Benetti yacht Metis.

Like Metis, FB285 features “circular windows” on the main and lower decks, as well as a large dining area on the main deck bathed in natural light thanks to two two-metre diameter windows on each side.

Speaking about the yacht, designer Giorgio M. Cassetta said: “The clear ideas and the personal wishes of the owners played a leading role in this project. I was fascinated by the suggestions they gave us, with careful attention to detail dictated by great experience, thanks to which we will create a yacht with an unmistakable design”.
