A fire has destroyed a 27 metre Sanlorenzo SX88 in the Port de Valencia on Spain’s eastern coast.

The fire broke out at around 1pm local time at Marina Sur and was eventually extinguished after six separate fire crews were called to deal with the blaze. The yacht has been identified by local media as Pesa, a 2019-built model from Sanlorenzo’s popular SX crossover line.

According to local reports, the flames were initially extinguished but later reignited. No injuries have been reported.

After 12 hours of attempting to control the blaze, the remains of the yacht sunk. It is understood that she was carrying 8,000 litres of fuel, but emergency services have stated that the fire has not caused any discharge into the water.

The cause of the fire has not yet been verified.
