First look inside GX Superyachts 42m GX42 flagship Merinos

7 October 2026 • Written by Éilis Cronin

GX Superyachts has offered a first look inside its flagship GX42 superyacht Merinos, following her world premiere at the 2026 Monaco Yacht Show.

The 41.8-metre yacht was launched  in August this year at Turkish shipyard SES Yachts in Istanbul, where she was constructed. Marco Casali, founder of Too Design, is responsible for her exterior and interior design, while her naval architecture was developed by Francesco Rogantin, founder of Italian firm NAMES Studio.

The yacht is the first in a planned series ranging from 24 to 56 metres and centres on an integrated energy architecture. Propulsion, electrical generation, battery storage, solar production, and hotel loads are treated as parts of the same system, allowing the vessel to select the most appropriate energy source based on operating conditions. This integrated approach creates a quieter, more comfortable on-board environment.

This same integrated and efficiency-led philosophy extends into the design, where the interiors have been conceived around extended family life on board. Social spaces are concentrated on the main and upper decks, with a dining area for up to 10 guests, a comfortable saloon, and an expansive upper deck with lounging areas, sunbeds, a bar, and a Jacuzzi.

The raised pilot house, elegantly curved superstructure and low-profile upper deck create space for a full-beam owner's suite on the main deck, complete with a private foredeck terrace. The lower deck boasts a generous VIP suite with a fold-down balcony and three additional guest cabins. She can comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests across five cabins, including a master suite on the main deck, while her lower deck contains a full-beam VIP cabin and three twin cabins.

Walnut, Italian leather, stone, and neutral fabrics create a warm, tactile interior environment, with broad-radius curves throughout. Backlit Turkish marble, liquid-metal panels and carefully curated artworks provide focal points, while floor-to-ceiling windows maximise natural light. Ultra Luce's combination of direct and indirect lighting shifts the atmosphere from bright and social to intimate and relaxed.

The yacht is built around a slender, efficiency-focused hull designed for long-range operations, boasting parallel diesel-electric hybrid propulsion, nearly 1 MWh of battery storage and integrated solar generation. GX Superyachts claims up to 48 hours of zero-emission operation at anchor, along with up to 45 per cent lower onboard electricity consumption. Integrated solar production on the yacht's upper surface is considered a fundamental input into the vessel's broader electrical ecosystem.

She boasts a cruising speed of around nine knots, with a possible range exceeding 5,000 nautical miles.

"The GX42 is the result of a very clear philosophy: efficiency should be engineered into the yacht from the outset, rather than added afterwards through individual technologies,” said Vladimir Zinchenko, CEO and founder of GX Superyachts.

“By integrating a parallel hybrid propulsion system, substantial battery storage, solar generation, an efficiency-led hull and intelligent energy management, we have created an energy architecture in which every element works together. Marco Casaliʼs design completes that vision by transforming this technical efficiency into a remarkably spacious, quiet and comfortable environment for life on board. For us, that is the real innovation of GX42 ‒ technology that improves the experience without becoming the experience itself. “

First unveiled during the 2024 Monaco Yacht Show as the first in a planned series of yachts ranging from 24 to 56 metres, the launch of Merinos follows significant leadership change at GX Superyachts. In December 2025, the shipyard appointed Maurizio Magri as its new chief commercial officer and member of the board.
