Hodgdon Yachts successfully infuses 30m carbon fibre superyacht hull mould

11 March 2014 • Written by Risa Merl

US shipyard Hodgdon Yachts has announced the successful infusion of a 30.48m yacht carbon fibre hull mould – one the largest single hull infusions to be completed in the US, and one in only a handful of shipyards worldwide this size.

The mould will be used for a pre-preg carbon sailing superyacht hull. Hodgdon's announcement confirms rumours that the Maine-based shipyard is working on a 30m-plus superyacht project.

'The amount of planning, organization and coordination required to effect this successful work is formidable,' says Tim Hodgdon, president of Hodgdon Yachts. 'Our talented team along with the vast experience and leadership of our project partners Tim Hacket and Brandon Linton continues to strengthen our core competence in advanced composites. We are pleased to be one of a handful of shipyards in the world capable of executing projects like this – and to be a leader in this technology in the USA.'

More details will be released about this project from the custom builder Hodgdon Yachts throughout 2014.
