Horizon launches eighth 25m FD80

24 August 2022 • Written by Katia Damborsky

Taiwanese shipyard Horizon Yachts has launched the eighth unit of its 25 metre FD80 series.

Built on speculation in GRP, the model will now be available for sale to the US market.

The model has proven historically popular, particularly in the United States. The first unit was sold in March 2020 to a Florida-based client and the design has since carved out a niche in the 25 metre segment of the market.

The FD80 is available in two iterations – the standard 'Semi-Open Bridge' design and the recently unveiled Skyline edition, which debuted earlier this year.

Glass partitions create a continuous connection between indoor and outdoor spaces

Described by the yard as a "pocket superyacht",  the yacht features Cor D. Rover's Fast Displacement hull that allows for a high-volume interior without compromising on performance.

To this end, the yacht has a fuel capacity of 10,220 litres and is powered by twin Caterpillar engines.

The FD80 has a four-cabin layout with an on-deck master, plus seperate crew quarters. Cedar-lined furniture and a walnut-wrapped bed frame in the master suite create an elegant onboard ambience.

Elsewhere, the yacht boasts an enclosed skylounge and a beach club –features not often found on a yacht of this size. There is alfresco dining for eight on the aft, with fully opening glass partitions that create a smooth connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.

This is the first FD80 model in the US to feature an open galley design, which further adds to the feeling of spaciousness onboard. The use of marble and a chic light fixture are the key focal points.

The main saloon has white ash flooring and white oak finishes which work well with the natural light that pours in through the FD80. Electric curtains create privacy and a cosy atmosphere in the evening.

The yacht's design follows a sophisticated theme, with plenty of champagne and cream tones offset by gentle splashes of colour. High-gloss lacquered finishes are balanced by Cambria Harrogate surfaces.

The design team has made full use of the yacht's 6.8 metre beam and has also fitted the model with the Garmin Surround View six-camera “Birdseye” system that promises an enhanced feeling of security and safety onboard.

The new yacht will make her debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show 2022.
