Taiwanese shipyard Horizon has delivered the latest unit in its FD102 series to an Australian owner.
Christened Askari, the latest FD102 started life as an FD92 but was extended to fulfill her owner’s request for more exterior deck area.
Askari will be based in Airlie Beach, in eastern Australia. Twin Caterpillar engines give her freedom to cruise across the country, and her owner plans to use Askari extensively around the Kimberelys in western Australia.
The yacht has a traditional layout on the main deck, but her styling takes a more novel approach. Gold Coast-based studio PLK Design has worked to a contemporary theme, with interior touches including Cambria stonework, elegant tub chairs and hand-blown lightning.
Making full use of the 7.11 metre beam, the yacht features a generous main saloon with full-height windows, adjoined by a dining saloon with an open galley.
Guest accommodation includes a main deck owner’s cabin that's been tastefully finished with an integrated TV screen and en-suite bathrooms. Four additional cabins can be found on the lower deck, with mirrored VIPs amidships and a double and a convertible twin forward. Crew quarters for four are located aft of the engine room.
As requested by her owner, the yacht has plenty of outdoor space for soaking up the Australian sun, A semi-enclosed skylounge offers a bar and seating area, alongside a full dining area and a large jacuzzi. A 15ft Castoldi Jet tender will be stowed on the foredeck.
The yard’s FD line has proved popular, with Horizon announcing the second 31m Horizon FD100 is now in build.
