Superyacht interior design firm FM Architettura d’Interni has joined forces with leading Italian technology company Videoworks to create a smartwatch; representing the latest innovation in wearable technology for superyachts.
Demonstrated at the recent London Yacht, Jet and Prestige Car Show, the collaboration unveiled a Samsung Gear smartwatch integrated with software that allows the wearer to control every aspect of their surroundings. From dimming the lights and adjusting the curtains to choosing movies and music or sending food orders to the kitchen, the customisable icons on the watch aim to achieve an unparalleled level of comfort and service for superyacht owners and guests at the touch of a button.
The watch has been designed to work in conjunction with Videoworks’ sound masking technology – a unique audio system created to work in harmony with FM’s interiors. As Videoworks explains, “Masking operates by covering up or masking unwanted sounds, similar to one-way windows that block the ability for a person to see persons behind them, or perfume that covers up other body odours. In this way the sound spectrum and level is specially shaped to provide the degree of privacy desired by occupants.”
The practical result is a high-tech audio system that allows those is close proximity but with different tastes the option of listening to only the music, TV show or film of their choosing. An ideal solution for cabins with adjoining walls, this function can also be easily switched on or off using the smartwatch.
While this technology is currently only available on the Samsung Gear smartwatch, iPhone users will be glad to hear an Apple watch version is currently in production and will be available by the end of the year.
