The 64.3-metre Sanlorenzo superyacht Attila has run aground off the coast of Es Pujols in Formentera, Spain. BOATPro reports that the yacht has been in the area since 2.00pm yesterday (1 July), with eyewitnesses claiming the yacht entered shallow waters and was beached at approximately 2.30pm.
According to local reports, the incident has not resulted in any pollution or impacted the posidonia grasslands native to the area. Authorities are now coordinating refloating efforts and assessing the extent of damage.
No injuries have been reported.
Attila was delivered in 2019 as the flagship of Italian yard Sanlorenzo, a title she has held for six years. Key features include a climate-controlled wine cellar, an "enormous barbecue" in the dining area of the main deck and a 78-square-metre beach club with a sauna, Hammam, massage room and gym.
Her steely, masculine exterior is by Officina Italiana Design, with "modern South American" interiors by Francesco Paszkowski in collaboration with Margherita Casprini.
BOAT International will update the story as it develops.
The incident follows a string of high-profile news items in June, including the recovery of the sunken Baysian, a hydrogen-fuel breakthrough from Feadship and a surprise announcement from luxury car manufacturer Ferrari.
