Second Mangusta GranSport 45 superyacht Project Amalfi launched

20 January 2021 • Written by Miranda Blazeby

The second Mangusta Gransport 45 fast displacement superyacht, known as Project Amalfi, has hit the water for the first time.

The launch of the 45 metre model comes after Overmarine announced the sale of the yacht in November 2019.

Sold to a repeat Mangusta owner described as an “experienced yachtsman”, Project Amalfi is designed by Alberto Mancini. The model features a “timeless” exterior and “simple layout”, allowing the owner to choose from a range of different configurations.

The yacht will be predominately used for Mediterranean cruising, as well as undertaking long-range passages to remote destinations.

There is a specific focus on external relaxation areas. The sun deck has two large sunpads and a seven-person Jacuzzi tub, the water of which creates a waterfall at the bow.

Project Amalfi will have a top speed of 26 knots and range of 4,200 miles at 12 knots. The 2.1 metre draft meanwhile will allow the owner to cruise in shallow waters and enter remote anchorages.

It comes after the first hull in the series was sold in 2018.
