Update: Cargo Ship Departs Palma Following Listing Incident

17 June 2020 • Written by Miranda Blazeby

A cargo ship that listed in the port of Palma de Mallorca with five superyachts on board has safely departed with new cargo.

The incident, which took place on June 8, saw the semi-submersible vessel Super Servant 4 unexpectantly list after an electrical failure caused ballast water to move from port to starboard.

Two tugboats were called to assist the vessel before the electrical fault was solved and listing reduced. The incident caused "minor damage" to the five yachts on board.

A statement from DYT Yacht Transport read: "We regret this incident took place, for our clients and concerned bystanders.

"Our sincere apologies for any inconvenience to the parties involved, especially our valued
customers."

Following the event, the cargo ship was inspected and has since departed Palma with new yachts on board bound for Genoa and Florida.
