Fox: 35m Pendennis explorer yacht delivered and named after British scientist

The highly-anticipated compact explorer yacht Project Fox has now been delivered as Fox. According to BOATPro, she departed from Pendennis' yard in Falmouth earlier this month and has now undertaken her maiden voyage to the Mediterranean.

The 35-metre yacht “represent[s] the very best of British engineering and interior design,” and borrows her name from one of Falmouth's most famous inventors Robert Were Fox the Younger. Were Fox was a 19th-century scientist who enabled exploration by inventing a special type of compass that ultimately guided the expedition that discovered the South Pole.

Ian Sherwood, of  Burgess, said: "It is fantastic to witness her maiden voyage down to the Mediterranean. As her delivery was eagerly anticipated, we are certain that she will be well regarded by all those she encounters." The yacht is listed for sale, and Sherwood noted she would be the ideal boat for "those seeking an alternative to the traditional milk run".

Interior and exterior styling is by Q London and key features of the new build explorer yacht include an expansive open aft deck, measuring 103.5 square metres and capable of storing a pair of 7.5-metre tenders – plus the option of Jet Skis, quad bikes and "even a sub", according to Sherwood. 

"You don’t have to spend an 80-metre budget to have a yacht that will take you to interesting places," added Sherwood. "[Fox] is not only a platform that’s going to take you to those destinations, it’s the platform that’s going to facilitate your enjoyment when you get there. Whether you want to carry a sub or two big tenders, whether you’re into diving – the boat can be configured to suit the passion and the sense of adventure that the client has."

Meanwhile, the accommodation comprises a full-beam main deck master cabin and a further four en suite cabins. Other crowd-pleasing features include a DJ station, a glass-walled sky lounge and a dedicated wine fridge.

Pendennis MD Toby Allies said: "The project is the latest in a long line of truly custom new build deliveries by Pendennis, the team that has worked so hard on her during the project have created a sleek, modern and unfussy engineering platform that will allow the yacht to explore every corner of the globe."

Fox is on the market asking €17,000,000.
