Perini Navi sells second 42 Project E-volution sailing yacht

Italian yard Perini Navi has sold the second 42 metre sailing yacht in its E-volution series.

The model, which is the first unit in the GTS series, will be delivered to its “expert” European owner in 2021. It comes after the yard announced it had sold the first in the series in July this year.

The aluminium and carbon design features exterior styling by Perini Navi and naval architecture by Reichel Pugh.

However some aspects of the naval architectural design, specifically the keel and sail plan, have been modified at the request of the owner.

The keel has an extended depth of 7.4 metres while the mast has been increased to measure 62.5 metres.

The new sail plan will feature a square top mainsail, extended boom and four metre bowsprit to maximise sail surface.

The yacht will also feature a more “streamlined” deck house which, combined with the substitution of carbon for various fittings, has reduced the boat’s displacement.

Perini Navi chairman and chief executive Lamberto Tacoli said the sale completed “an important year for our shipyard.”

“We have a lot of confidence in the 42m E-volution GTS project because it represents the perfect synthesis of comfort and performance and we are pleased that the line is having so much success in this important market segment,” he added.

The second 42 metre E-volution yacht is one of seven yachts measuring over 40 metres currently in construction at the Perini Navi yard.
