Dutch yard Royal Huisman has marked a major construction milestone on its 81-metre sailing yacht known as Project 412, with the hull set to be turned at the yard’s facility in Vollenhove.
The project was first announced in May 2025 as an 80-metre-plus “super-sized” aluminium sailing yacht commissioned by a returning owner. Now confirmed to measure 81 metres, the build is progressing as part of the yard’s Trident 810 series, with the hull turning signalling the transition from primary structure to outfitting and systems integration.
A hallmark moment in any superyacht build, the turning of the aluminium hull will offer the first clear view of the yacht’s scale. The construction features a distinctive chine running from bow to stern, while the vessel is being developed as a contemporary flybridge schooner designed for world cruising.
As previously reported, Project 412 will be equipped with a state-of-the-art carbon rig supplied by Rondal, combining performance with sail-handling comfort and innovation.
Royal Huisman's new CEO Peter Naeyé commented on the latest milestone. He said: "Project 412 reflects the deep trust we value so highly from our clients, especially when an owner returns to build upon the proven architecture of Royal Huisman’s flybridge schooner. I am proud of our great team, who made this turning point possible within just 10 months. We are looking forward to today’s important milestone as we bring her one major step closer to the water.”
Project 412 is the second hull in the Trident 810 series, building on a proven platform first delivered in 2020. According to the yard, the series allows owners to benefit from a shorter construction timeline while still achieving a fully bespoke result.
According to BOATPro, the mammoth build will be joining two other projects at the yard's facilities in Vollenhove: the 85-metre Project 410, also known as the world's largest single-masted sailing yacht, and the 81-metre Project 411.
