New Zealand yard Yachting Developments is well on course for the launch in early June 2012 of the 30.4m sailing catamaran, build number YD66, also known as Q5.

Naval architecture and exterior styling is by Auckland based Warwick Yacht Design. Construction is in high strength light weight post-cured epoxy Eglass/Carbon fibre incorporating foam sandwich technology.

Powered by twin 455hp Caterpillar engines, Q5 is expected to cruise at between 12 to 14 knots under power. The generators are by Kohler and the custom deck gear is by Yachting Developments.

The interior is designed by Redman Whiteley Dixon with a brief to incorporate both modern and traditional elements with a light colour palette. Accommodation consists of an owner’s cabin located on the main deck with direct access to the foredeck and spa pool area. The lower deck has two double cabins and one twin cabin along with a children’s den which includes two storable berths.

The main saloon and bar areas are located on the main deck and an enclosed all-weather pilothouse is located on the upper level.
