Italian shipyard Picchiotti, a brand of The Italian Sea Group, has revealed a new 53-metre yacht concept, designed as a more contemporary offering to its fleet.
The P53 was developed by the Group's R&D department and in-house design, styling and architectural division, Picchiotti Centro Stile, for a “contemporary owner" who “lives many lives”, from entertaining guests to enjoying moments of solitude.
With a more avant-garde style and focus on structure and architectural clarity, the P53 features an aluminium hull and superstructure and a broad 10-metre beam which, when combined with extensive glazing and exteriors, makes the sea “an active part of life on board”.
This design feature is further reinforced by the intelligent use of space in the beach club, multiple folding terraces and a continuity between the interior and exterior - of which the yard notes differs from many yachts of comparable size in the way space opens. The shipyard also made a conscious decision to keep the design's volume under 500GT, to provide generous onboard space while maintaining agility and efficiency on the water.
According to the shipyard, the P53 invites a "natural passage" from one area to the other: suggesting a morning dedicated to wellbeing and an afternoon reading in quiet, followed by a dinner enjoyed with family and friends. The P53 creates areas able to "change rhythm while retaining coherence."
Accommodation on board is for up to 12 guests in six cabins, alongside a complement of 10 crew members in five cabins. P53 is expected to reach a maximum speed of 18 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots. At 10 knots, the anticipated range is 4,000 nautical miles.
"Her [P53's] own identity has been built for centuries through many forms of excellence," read a statement from the yard. "The small aristocratic motor cruiser and the 103-metre royal yacht, the memory of the Gentleman yacht and the radicalism of the P-Fleet, Italian culture and an international gaze: everything converges in the P53 as a coherent new page of the same narrative. The Picchiotti P53 is the most current form of an ancient vocation: designing yachts able to read their own time and, at the same time, the identity of those who choose them."
