Sailing yacht Ohana spotted during her first regatta

Launched by Fitzroy Yachts at the end of October 2012, the sailing yacht Ohana underwent extensive sea trials in November and was recently delivered to her experienced European owners.

In mid-February, she participated in her first regatta, the annual NZ Millennium Cup, where she was spotted. Her grey and yellow colour scheme associated to a giant yellow gennaker turned heads, and the latest Fitzroy showed great performance, taking third place overall. 'It was particularly gratifying to see her make her racing debut here on home shores', commented Rodney Martin, Managing Director of Fitzroy Yachts.

As reminder, the 49.7m Ohana is the eighth sailing yacht designed by Dubois Naval Architects to be built by Fitzroy. The interior, designed by the owner, accommodates 12 guests in a full-beam master, two double and two twin cabins aft, and a further double guest cabin forward. Crew quarters are for seven.

Ohana was also recently announced as a finalist for both the 2013 World Superyacht Awards and ShowBoats Design Awards.

Following this successful delivery, Fitzroy Yachts is working on another Dubois-designed sailing yacht, a 37.5m performance sloop, currently known as hull number FY17. Her launch is already scheduled for the end of the year.
