Italy's Sanlorenzo yard announces it's introducing a new flagship to its range of superyachts - a 62m superyacht provisionally called the Sanlorenzo 62Steel.

The Italian builder also announces a partnership signed with Officina Italiana Design to design the next of Sanlorenzo's 50- to 60-foot entry-level fibreglass yachts up to the new 62Steel flagship. Exterior and interior design for the 62m will be by Officina Italiana Design with naval architecture by Sanlorenzo.

'Looking at the nautical market, we realised there are many yachts with chaotic exterior lines. So we had the idea to think about a yacht without exaggerations, but with an extreme formal simplicity, an elegant and sober object,' says Mauro Micheli of Officina Italiana Design regarding the inspiration for the new 62Steel superyacht concept. 'We think that personality in general does not come from exaggeration but from harmony and proportion.'

Sanlorenzo's range currently include 14 models in three lines spanning the SL line of planing fibreglass yachts to the SD line of semi-displacement fibreglass yachts to the Superyacht line. The 62Steel would fall into the latter, sitting well at the top of the range that includes the 40Alloy, 42Explorer and 46Steel.
