Sergio Cutolo has penned a 56.80m classic explorer with a range facilities more common to larger expedition vessels.
The founder of the Italian Hydro Tec design studio, which has extensive experience designing explorer yachts, made preliminary sketches to a brief. But when the client decided not to take the design further, Cutolo developed it further himself.
‘On a quite small boat we had the chance to put a slightly bigger tenders than normal, but also a touch and go helicopter pad – things that usually you find on bigger yachts,’ he says.
Storing tenders on either side of the main deck, ‘frees up the aft part of the boat, so this could become easily a beach club, a sauna area or it could also be the garage for toys.’ Other luxury touches include a sky lounge, a generous aft deck with a spa pool on the upper deck, a large sundeck and two generous forward seating areas.
The designer also intends to develop the design with ice class capability.
