Van Geest Design's 40m Ocean Nomad superyacht concept

27 March 2015

Van Geest Design has developed Ocean Nomad, a 40 metre superyacht concept for an experienced client, who requested a completely fresh take on a multi-purpose, ocean-going yacht for private use.

The Dutch design house has created a rugged and modern exterior styling. The Ocean Nomad concept is designed for exceptional seakindliness and comfort underway. Van Geest says the superyacht sets a new standard for exploring the world and stands out for its multipurpose usability and refined design.

With a beam of 9.1 metres, accommodations comprise an owner’s stateroom, four guest cabins, one multi-purpose cabin and four crew cabins, which include one cabin for the captain, accommodating up to seven crew in all.The full beam master stateroom is found on the main deck forward. It includes an office, with a desk and sofa. Both the stateroom and office feature large hull windows. The hull is ice class and the range is certain to be enough to allow the Ocean Nomad to live up to her name.

A helipad could be sited on the aft bridge deck and there is tender storage at the stern. The design has a gym with opening doors to the elements and what Van Geest call generous storage for bicycles and other sports equipment. Perhaps the most attractive space outside will be the sky deck, a large open deck space with an interior and exterior access from the bridge deck below. It features a Jacuzzi with a surrounding sunbathing area, bar, lounge/dining, BBQ, day head, storage and forward-facing seating towards the front of the space. The centre section is protected from the sun by a large canopy and additional sun shading will be provided with bimini tops, parasols and sun screens.
