Why charter Galene

The final hull in the Amels 180 Limited Editions series, Galene, is a fine example of why Amels’ charter-ready design has been so successful over the last decade. Delivered in 2020, she offers a platform that suits a wide audience while still being packed with personality. Her sociable layout is ideal for families, groups of friends or corporate charters with standout features including a vast sun deck and three fold-down balconies.

This season in the Med, life on board this yacht for charter revolves around Galene’s exceptional deck spaces. The sun deck features a Jacuzzi surrounded by sunpads, a raised sunbathing area protected by glass panels, and a sit-up bar enclosed with sliding glass doors, allowing for use in all weather conditions.

“Galene is an amazing charter yacht,” says Y.CO charter manager, David Price. "Her Amels pedigree, chase tender, diving board and incredible chef are just some of the reasons she has such an exemplary charter record. It’s easy to see why guests return.”

The interiors are flooded with light thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding glass doors, and there’s a contemporary, calming feel throughout. The full-beam master suite is a private haven, complete with a king-sized bed, walk-in wardrobes and his and hers bathrooms (and private balcony). Four additional guest cabins bring the total guest capacity to 12, all of which are looked after by a crew of 13 who pride themselves on their boundless energy on the water.

“In addition to her fabulous deck spaces and stunning design, Galene delivers an exceptional experience, thanks to one of the best crews in the industry,” says Tamsin Priestley, charter broker at Y.CO. “Guests consistently praise the team’s professionalism, energy, and discreet service, with special mention of the outstanding chef. With a vast array of water toys and hands-on support from the crew, every moment on board is effortless and enjoyable. A standout charter from start to finish."

For charterers seeking fun, Galene has an array of water toys. She has an RYA-approved centre where guests can complete personal watercraft safety courses on board, granting temporary jet-ski licences. The yacht’s inflatable dock becomes a hub for all kinds of toys ranging from Seabobs and jet boards to kitesurf gear, electric surfboards, paddleboards and more.

Interior mood

As guests step through the sliding doors on the main deck, they’ll be met with the modern-classic vibe that flows through Galene. Designed by Laura Sessa, the yacht for charter has subtle Art Deco touches with a palette of neutral tones including taupe, warm tan and creamy beige. The feel is clean and tailored, but also ideally suited for cosy nights on board. There are subtle nautical nods on board, including striped cushions and curvaceous furniture.

Up on the bridge deck, a grand Steinway piano sits in the saloon to port, giving the main saloon an elegant touch. There is also a 98" flatscreen TV with Apple TV and a fluffy sofa, allowing the space to convert into a cinema-like space easily. Sliding glass doors can be kept open to extend the space to the exterior and allow a natural breeze, creating the all-important indoor-outdoor feel on board.

On days when the weather isn’t quite up to standard, the main saloon has an interior dining space, which has floor-to-ceiling windows at each end, again flooding the space with light.

Sleep easy

The cabin arrangement includes one principal, two VIPs and two ensuite convertible cabins with pullman berths. Following the same calming, natural feel on board, there isn’t really a group that Galene wouldn’t cater to. The cabins are calming, elegant and bright with the benefit of a lot of space.

Best deck moments

As Galene is an extended version of the 177 model, her sun deck is far bigger, stretching 25 metres in length and offering 155 square metres of relaxation space. This generous footprint transforms the upper deck into a multi-zone sanctuary, equally suited to sun-drenched afternoons or laid-back evenings under the stars. Shielded by glass panels, a raised sunbathing area offers uninterrupted views while keeping guests protected from the breeze, making it the ideal spot to soak up the Mediterranean sun.

At the heart of the action is the oversized Jacuzzi, flanked by sunpads and steps away from a sleek bar also enclosed by sliding glass doors. Whether you're sipping sundowners post-swim or gathering for pre-dinner cocktails, the space is made for socialising.

On the bridge deck below, alfresco dining takes centre stage with a teak table that seats up to 12 guests. Thanks to wind-protecting glass panels and shelter from the overhang above, it’s a setting that works in all weather.

Toys for enjoyment

As an approved RYA water sports centre, Galene allows guests to complete personal watercraft safety courses and enjoy the thrill of jetskiing and other toys under the guidance of her expert crew. An inflatable dock extends the swim platform, turning it into a floating playground where everything is set up and ready to go. From high-octane toys to more relaxed options, there’s something for every energy level and age group. Her list of toys includes:

  • Three tenders
  • Jet Skis
  • Seabobs
  • Jet Board
  • Wakeboards
  • Towable Toys
  • Kitesurf
  • Boards
  • Windsurfs
