11 of the most beautiful beaches in the Balearics
Tranquil beaches in Formentera
Including Playa Illetes, Es Calo and El Tiburón
Once Ibiza’s shy and retiring neighbour, Formentera is now luring visitors away from the White Isle. Often described as the main reason to visit Formentera, the island's beaches can be crowed at peak season. Playa Illetes is one of the more popular beaches, but you'll be in good company as there are often luxury yachts anchored in the bay.
Es Calo isn't much of a beach, but it offers incredibly clear water that is wonderful for snorkelling and a very deep area that twinkles the most stunning shade of blue in the sunshine.
El Tiburón beach remains relatively relaxed, even at the height of summer, with pine trees offering some much-needed shade. It's a great beach to unwind at, just sit back feel smug as you watch the yachts pass on their way to somewhere probably much more crowded in Ibiza...
