With a completion date of 2027, Habacoa will be North America’s largest superyacht marina. Located on the southwestern tip of Great Abaco Island in the Bahamas, benefiting from the deepest entry canal (8 metres), the new marina is set to welcome a total capacity of 150 superyachts (up to 220 metres) and will include a 200-unit dry-stack facility. Alongside berthing, the development will include multiple luxury amenities: a 2,300-square-metre yacht club, casino and nightclub – designed by Zaha Hadid Architectus – as well as an amphitheatre, a performance hall and a curated collection of exclusive residences. Located next to Abaco National Park, developers have prioritised environmental responsibility. Designed with hurricane-proof infrastructure, it plans to harness solar power for 30 per cent of its energy requirements and will be the first development in the Bahamas to harvest rainwater. In addition, Habacoa has ambitions to secure Blue Flag certification.
Lamda Corfu Marina
A €50 million marina project by Lamda Development has recently been confirmed (November 2025) under a concession agreement with the Greek government to open a new marina on the Ionian island of Corfu. Located west of the island’s main cruise pier, the new marina will feature 410 berths capable of hosting yachts up to 140 metres, making it one of the largest facilities in the Mediterranean. Spanning 39,400 square metres, the development will also include commercial shops, a hotel, restaurants, office spaces, green areas and sports facilities, creating a waterfront hub. The project will also see upgrades to the wider Port of Corfu infrastructure. Lamda’s marina portfolio also includes Flisvos Marina in Athens.
Nova Marina
Portugal welcomed its first dedicated superyacht marina with the launch of Nova Marina, a sister facility to Marina de Vilamoura, during its 50th anniversary celebrations in November 2024. Designed to attract larger yachts to the Algarve, Nova Marina offers three pontoons with 68 berths, accommodating yachts from 20 to 40 metres. The expanded marina services include a pump-out system, remote management for water and electricity, dedicated electric charging points, desalination systems and solar panels. Each berth is available for rental periods of up to five years. The group is also developing a yacht club to serve both Marina de Vilamoura and Nova Marina, which it hopes to launch over the next couple of years.
Pier 66 Marina
While not a new opening, Pier 66 Marina remains a cornerstone of South Florida’s yachting scene and has undergone a recent extensive refurbishment as part of a $1 billion redevelopment project. The upgrades continue its status as one of the largest superyacht destinations on the US East coast and a prime location for the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Located on the Intracoastal Waterway, the marina now offers more than 150 berths across its Pier North and Pier South locations, providing 1,500 metres of dockage. As an updated Foreign Trade Zone, internationally flagged yachts can now dock without paying duty. The development also includes 88 residences across four buildings and 12 restaurants and bars, three of which are signature waterfront venues.
Club de Mar
Palma’s historic marina has been reborn with a €83 million redevelopment of Club de Mar, the city’s largest private reconstruction project. The project began in 2011, and after years of challenges, the new marina has modernised buildings dating back to the 1970s while improving infrastructure and services. Clud de Mar now has 543 berths, including 70 dedicated superyacht moorings for yachts up to 170 metres, with the capacity to host four of these simultaneously. The marina combines a members-only club, ships, restaurants, supermarkets and a nightclub. Sustainability has been a notable priority with a focus on environmental efficiency through the addition of solar panels and a digital system to optimise utilities. The marina redevelopment runs alongside the redesign of Palma’s Paseo Maritimo promenade, with the official reopening scheduled for early 2026.
Marina Port Vell
During a three-year overhaul, Marina Port Vell in Barcelona completed its €20 million renovation project in mid-2024, just ahead of hosting the America’s Cup competition in October 2024. The redevelopment added 23 new berths for yachts up to 70 metres, now hosting the longest dock in the Mediterranean, at 400 metres, as well as a direct-to-berth fuel supply system offering premium and biofuel options. Enhanced landscaping has created a greener environment, while upgraded facilities, including a gym, crew lounge, spa, and on-site helipad, provide convenience and luxury for visiting yachts. Marina Port Vell has also extended its list of on-site events and its “Crew Life” programme.
Marina Livorno
Located within the historic Italian port of Livorno, the new Marina Livorno is scheduled to open in 2026. Backed by the Azimut-Benetti Group in partnership with D-Marin, the new marina, designed by the Florence-based studio Archea, will result from a €15 million project transforming an existing stretch of waterfront. The marina will offer 815 berths with current docks undergoing extensive renovation and the introduction of modern leisure, dining and entertainment amenities. As part of the D-marin portfolio, Marina Livoron will benefit from the group’s smart marine technology, including the recently launched D-Marin app, a digital platform designed to streamline operational efficiency and the customer experience.
