Owners looking to have work undertaken on their yachts this winter can benefit from a new tax exemption at OneOcean Port Vell in Barcelona.
The TPA tax free benefit scheme is traditionally only applicable for yachts in ship yards but OneOcean Port Vell has now been granted a permit.
The change could save owners a substantial amount of money as they will not have to pay VAT on works, materials, dockage and power consumption providing that it is completed within the approved TPA window.
The TPA permit allows the exemption from VAT for non EU flagged yachts that are completing repairs and improvements while in the EU, without causing pollution.
Any yacht hoping to take advantage of the situation will have to submit details to an approved administrator who will oversee the project. The administrator will be required to submit reports before, during and after the work to the fiscal authority.
OneOcean Port Vell is able to accommodate yachts up to 190 metres and, although it does not offer full shipyard services, it offers normal maintenance work, interior, mechanical and electrical works.
The marina reopened this year having undergone an upgrade and a rebrand under the OneOcean name. As well as its repair services, the marina also offers a business centre, crew lounge and VIP concierge service.
Its location close to the heart of the city makes it a popular destination for owners wanting to spend time away from their superyacht in Barcelona and as starting point for luxury yacht charters.
