Boat International Media, the America’s Cup Event Authority and the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club confirmed it would host the America’s Cup Superyacht Regatta during the 35th America’s Cup June 2017 in Bermuda.
Three days of superyacht racing are scheduled to take place between 13 and 15 June 2017, just ahead of the 35th America’s Cup Match presented by Louis Vuitton. Superyachts over 24 metres LOA as well as J Class yachts will battle it out for The Boat International America’s Cup Superyacht Regatta Trophy, currently held by Adela, who won the event in San Francisco in 2013.
The J Class have confirmed their participation and they will join an extensive fleet of superyachts, both sail and power, that are expected to descend on the island to witness the exciting America’s Cup action.
Yachts wishing to enter the regatta should download the Notice of Race.
The America’s Cup Superyacht Regatta will also see an exclusive onshore social programme that will ensure owners, their guests and their crews enjoy being an integral part of one of sports iconic competitions.
Sam Hollis, COO of the America’s Cup Event Authority said: “We are pleased to be working with Boat International Media on the America’s Cup Superyacht Regatta in Bermuda in June 2017. The America’s Cup Superyacht Regatta is sure to add to the experience for all in Bermuda next year, ensuring this will be one of the best America’s Cups we’ve seen to date.”
Darrell McLennan Fordyce, Chief Marketing & Events Officer for Boat International said: “Boat International is excited to organise our second America’s Cup Superyacht Regatta in this fantastic location. Thanks to the support from the America’s Cup Event Authority and the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club we anticipate exciting racing for a diverse fleet and an equally excellent onshore programme for guests and crews.”
Leatrice Oatley, Commodore of the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club said: “We are proud to be involved in the first superyacht regatta to come to Bermuda. We understand the tremendous opportunity the America’s Cup is bringing to the island and are thrilled to be adding this event to our legacy of promoting the sport in Bermuda.”
Superyacht racing will start on Tuesday 13th June with prize giving scheduled for Thursday 15th June.
The America’s Cup Superyacht Regatta complements the America’s Cup Superyacht Programme, which offers premium berthing locations in Hamilton and in the heart of the America’s Cup Village at Royal Naval Dockyard. Superyachts berthed in the America’s Cup Superyacht Program receive VIP viewing flags providing front row access to the race course. Owners and their guests will enjoy exclusive privileges and experiences, including access to Club AC (the VIP hospitality venue) and invitations to special VIP functions and parties. Superyachts will be at the heart of the action at the America’s Cup in Bermuda in 2017.
