The 2017 Superyacht Design Symposium saw some of the biggest names in the yachting industry converge on Kitzbuhel to discuss the future of yacht design and relax in stunning surroundings.
Kicking off on Sunday February 5 with the ShowBoats Design Awards and the 2017 Young Designer of the Year Awards, this three-day event culminated in the Compositeworks Ski Cup on Tuesday February 7.
As well as a packed social calendar, including the Tai Ping Mountain Lodge Party, the 2017 Superyacht Design Symposium also included speeches and presentations from the likes of Luca Bassani, Burns Fallow and Gregory C Marshall.
Leonardo Ferragamo, group executive chairman of Nautor’s Swan and one of the keynote speakers at the 2017 Superyacht Design Symposium, said: “I am here because I find the symposium very interesting, very inspiring and I would not have missed it for any reason.”
The theme for this year’s event was ‘Shaping the future’, with discussion panels analysing the value of superyacht concepts and the next generation of emerging talent.
American naval architect Bill Tripp, who picked up one of the top prizes at the ShowBoats Design Awards, added: “I come to the symposium to network with my European friends, colleagues, boat builders, designers and architects, and to go skiing — the skiing is an important part of it.”
Special thanks go to our partners Oceanco, Sabrina-Monte Carlo, Clyde & Co, Videoworks, Tai Ping, Promemoria, JFA Yachts, DKT Artworks, Kormaran and Compositeworks for their support of this year’s events.
