Airbus Corporate Helicopters (ACH), the new private and business helicopter arm of French aviation specialist Airbus, has announced the launch of a new app specifically targeting the superyacht market. The ACH Yacht Interface is an augmented reality app which allows owners and designers to fully visualise Airbus’ range of helicopters on board their yacht during the planning stage.

The new app allows owners to visualise a helicopter on board their yacht during the design phase

Available on iOS, the app aids with the integration of heli-decks and helicopters at the design phase by allowing users to see the aesthetic and technical aspects of keeping a helicopter on board in 3D. Users can choose from a variety of standard yacht deck sizes, or use augmented reality to see a range of helicopters on their own yacht deck, and view the aircraft with blades folded, with its lashings on and in pre-flight mode.

The app features a host of popular Airbus helicopters, including the 130, 145, 160 and 175, and contains all the relevant information (D-values, weights, height, etc) necessary to make an informed decision about the correct helicopter for your yacht. In addition the app also offers practical advice and information about yacht heli-deck regulations and helicopter operations.

This launch comes hot on the heels of Airbus’ successful display at the Monaco Yacht Show 2017 where the brand showcased an ACH155 Exclusive on Damen supper vessel 6711, as well as an ACH 130 on the roof of the Yacht Club de Monaco.

Speaking prior to the Monaco Yacht Show Frederic Lemos, head of ACH, said of the brand’s launch, “Based on a long heritage of engineering excellence developing private and business aviation solutions, today ACH is poised to deliver across this diverse but exclusive market and meet the high expectations of on demand travel requirements. In addition to its use as a flying tender, ACH aircraft offer enhanced emergency, leisure, business and exploration opportunities.”
