Following in the footsteps of Rolls-Royce and Gallery Fumi in Porto Cervo, Spanish high fashion house Loewe has announced the opening of a summer pop-up in Ibiza.
Launched in collaboration with the Museu d’Art Contemporani d’Eivissa (MACE), the pop-up will occupy a curated retail space in the museum. In line with its surroundings, the store will put a particular focus on the brand’s John Allen collection – inspired by the work of the British knitting and weaving landscape artist – as well as the rest of the SS15 collection.
Adorning towels, beach bags, silk scarves and accessories, Allen’s brightly coloured and abstract landscapes are the perfect accompaniment to a luxury yacht vacation in Ibiza. Loewe creative director, the British-born designer Jonathan Anderson, chose iconic works Falling Leaves, Cornish Harbour and Pink House Cumbria for collection, saying, “John’s use of colour and the purity of his work translate perfectly to Loewe, which stands for the very best in craft today.”
Although perhaps at the other end of the spectrum to Grey Goose’s private yacht party service, Loewe’s engagement with the art and culture of Ibiza further evidences the island’s move away from a destination for huge raves and house music. With many clean-living celebrities now taking superyacht vacations in the waters around the island, it is increasingly becoming a retreat for peace, quiet, elegant private soirees and, of course, a little high end shopping and international art.
The Loewe Ibiza summer shop is open until 6 September 2015 at the Museu d’Art Contemporani d’Eivissa, Ibiza.
