This weekend, Swedish brand Polestar offered a peek at just what the future of electric cars could look like. Unveiling the new Polestar Concept BST at Goodwood Festival of Speed, the two-seater roadster featured an aerodynamically optimised bonnet and unique vented design, framed by an aggressive front splitter. An ‘extreme’ rear wing, along with futuristic flared arches, 22-inch forged alloy wheels and extra wide track completed the look.
The BST, a contraction of the word "beast”, was finished in motorsport grey featuring racing-livery side graphics. Although Polestar isn’t yet able to confirm any power details and whether or not it will be headed for production, the concept showed this young electric car brand flexing its muscles.
Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar, said: “This car is a demonstration of how far we can push our performance brand - Polestar turned up to 11 if you will - and a demonstration of how we could apply the BST formula to our line up in the future."
Originally a sub-brand of Volvo, Scandi minimalism and pragmatism runs through Polestar’s veins, and the brand is already making a name for itself for understated-yet-cool cars free of gimmicks, with performance, reliability and thoughtful design front and centre.
Sustainability is a strong consideration throughout its range, with features including seating 3D-knitted from 100 per cent recycled PET bottles, carpets made from discarded fishing nets and batteries which can be dismantled and shredded into powder, allowing minerals to be recovered and reused in the manufacture of new batteries.
The BST was joined by the new Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 electric SUVs at the show, as well as the Polestar 6 Concept, slated for 2026, which took to the 1.2-mile long hillclimb in front of the festival’s crowds. Polestar 5 is next to join the lineup in 2025.
Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 are available to order, with test drives of Polestar 3 underway and Polestar 4 slots starting shortly. You can find out more here.
