The 29-metre performance cruising sloop Patea has been sold in-house at Burgess, with broker Jamie Small representing both the seller and the buyer.
Patea was built in carbon composite by Turkish shipyard Alia Yachts in 2012 to a design by renowned New Zealand-based naval architect Alan Warwick. She has undergone a number of upgrades and maintenance work since her launch, including a full rig service and new performance sails from Evolution Sails NZ, with the most recent refit completed in 2021.
Her name means "free spirit" in Maori and captures her spirit of adventure. She is designed to be sailed by a small crew and is highly competitive on the race circuit with a Southern Spars carbon-fibre rig, push-button in-boom furling and a new sail wardrobe. She flies nearly 500 square metres of sail upwind.
An extended coachroof provides welcome shade over the cockpit for al fresco dining, with skylights that allow light to filter through on sunny days and side curtains that can be installed for all-weather dining.
Forward is the main saloon, which is raised for 360-degree views while seated or standing, while more skylights allow abundant natural light to filter through the interior. The space can be transformed from a casual lounge to a formal dining setting as needed, with coffee tables and a freestanding dining table.
Guest accommodation comprises four cabins: the owner's suite, complete with a sofa and office area; a double cabin; and a convertible twin. An additional multipurpose media room can be converted into an ensuite cabin as needed, while four crew berths are found forward.
A four-metre tender is stored in a well on the foredeck; once launched, the space becomes a recessed sun-lounging area lined with cushions. Moving aft, guests will find a sunpad with life raft storage underneath, which can be transformed into an informal dining area.
The sailing yacht was built to RINA class and is powered by a Volvo Penta 425hp engine delivering a top speed of 12 knots. Key specs include a 6.7-metre beam and a 3.7-metre draught.
Patea was last asking €2,750,000.
