News now in from John DeCaro at All Ocean Yachts that his central agency, the 27.43m sailing yacht Caribana, has been donated to a worthy cause in Ocean Alliance, a research organisation that focuses on whales and marine toxicology.

Caribana is a classic expedition superyacht, built in 1977 by Palmer Johnson with naval architecture by McCurdy Rhodes. The aluminium-built yacht was last refitted in 1994 and can accommodate up to seven guests in one master and two twin cabins, along with one Pullman berth. Power comes from a single screw propulsion 250hp Caterpillar diesel engine, which offers a maximum speed of 12 knots. She was listed for sale asking $1.85 million.
